Flo’s – The Place in the Park

Flo’s is a community-owned hub for people to meet, work, play, create, learn, eat and connect.

Located in the heart of Florence Park in East Oxford, Flo’s is a space for local people to be in. There’s a large play area for children, and inside the building there are office spaces, meeting spaces, a cafe, and space for people to meet without needing to buy anything at all.

There are a range of regular events, groups and classes that take place, from parent meet-ups and breastfeeding support groups, to children’s environmental clubs and board games groups, and there’s also a Refill Shop and regular sports events and summer parties.

It’s a non-profit, community-run organisation which is almost entirely run by volunteers. Anyone can become a member for £5 per year, and locals are encouraged to get involved as much as possible so that the space suits everyone’s needs. Members have a say in how Flo’s operates day-to-day, and also how it develops in the future.

Watch this short video from Flo’s grand opening to hear how it’s already making a difference to the local community, particularly for new parents who have been supported by the Isis Community Midwives who operate out of the space:
